The Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League is proud to announce that Henry Muchikekewanape of the Norman Northstars is the CCM Hockey Player of the Week.
In two contests this weekend, Muchikekewanape scored 3 goals and added 3 assists, as the Northstars closed out the season with two wins. On Saturday, against the Interlake Lightning, Muchikekewanape scored mid-way through the second period to even the game for the Northstars. He scored his second of the game 56 seconds after Interlake retook the lead. Muchikekewanape also contributed two assists in that game and scored the lone goal in the shootout to lift the Northstars to the 5-4 victory. In the second game of the back-to-back set, Muchikekewanape scored a power play goal early in the third period to give the Northstars a 2-goal cushion. He also contributed an assist earlier in that game.
Muchikekewanape is a high-compete player whose work ethic is on display each game. The 5’11” forward is in his third season with the Northstars and has amassed 34 goals and 27 assists in just 46 games played. His 61 points paced his team and landed him 13th in league scoring.
